I’ve Got Drunkies- Hot Alcoholic Cocktails Oh My!

In cold weather months, I tend to drink more bourbon heavy drinks and heated liquor concoctions. I recently stumbled across my mother’s many recipes for delicious warm me up cocktails! Enjoy and may your holidays be filled with “I’ve Got Drunkies” delights!

Hot Peppermint Patty

Course: Drinks
Author: Sharon

Ingredients

  • 1 oz peppermint schnapps
  • 1 tsp creme de menthe
  • 1/2 oz dark creme de cacao
  • 1 packet instant hot chocolate mix
  • Whipped cream

Instructions

  • Into coffee mug, pour schnapps and creme de cacao. Stir until mixed. Add packet of hot chocolate mix. Stir until dissolved. Almost fill with boiling water. Stir well. Top with whipped cream and drizzle cream de menthe over it.

Hot Buttered Rum Mix

Course: Drinks
Servings: 24
Author: Sharon

Ingredients

  • 1 stick 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 t. nutmeg
  • 1/4 t. ground cloves
  • 1/4 t. cinnamon
  • 1 pound light brown sugar
  • 1 pt. vanilla ice cream

Instructions

  • Mix together well with electric mixer and store in tight container in freezer. To make individual servings, place 1 heaping Tablespoon of mixture in mug with very hot water and a shot of rum. Stir. Top with whipped cream (Readi-Whip is fine). Mixture keeps indefinitely in freezer and can be easily spooned while frozen. Makes a cool whip size bowl worth of mixture, enough for many mugs of drink.

Krupnik

Krupnik is one of the oldest known drinks in Poland, dating back into the Middle Ages. References to it are found in literature, folk songs and poetry. Drunk in large quantities it was supposed to fell strong warriors and conquer conquerors. So, a word to the wise — but it is most enjoyable!
Course: Drinks
Author: Sharon

Ingredients

  • 1 c. honey
  • 1/2 inch orange rind strip
  • 1 c. water
  • 2 c. vodka or pure alcohol
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 1/4 t. ground nutmeg
  • 6 cinnamon sticks

Instructions

  • Bring honey and water to a boil, carefully remove all scum. Add cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and orange rind. Allow to boil again, remove from heat and let stand a few minutes, and again bring to boil. Cover and set aside for at least half an hour to steep. Strain, again bring to a boil and then pour in the alcohol. Stir well. May be served warm or cooled.

Notes

This is a great winter warmer-upper. It is also great cold and served as a liqueur.
